May 06, 2025 - FASSelangor FC Bridging Football And Motorsports Together
Selangor Football Club (Selangor FC) officially announced a partnership with Haro Sports & Entertainment Sdn. Bhd. linking Selangor FC and SUPER GT Malaysia for the upcoming 2025/26 season. This is not the first time that football and motorsports have merged for Selangor FC, however, this collaboration aims to provide new experiences for both sports industries and further expand the club's name on the international stage.
SUPER GT is a car racing championship series based in Japan, featuring two racing classes, namely GT500 and GT300, as well as various manufacturers from Japan and other countries abroad. The championship takes place eight times a year; seven of which are contested in Japan, while one round of the series will be held in Malaysia, becoming the only country to compete in the 2025 SUPER GT Malaysia race on 26-28 June at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit.
This event would not have happened without Haro Sports & Entertainment Sdn. Bhd., which is the local promoter of the series, organizing the race to make it a success and also combining both Selangor FC and SUPER GT Malaysia to ensure an exclusive partnership even though football and car racing are two different sports worlds respectively.
Among the activations from the collaborations that are offered is special access to the SUPER GT Malaysia event on 26 to 28 June 2025 in Sepang which will be given to Selangor FC Season Grandstand Pass holders for the 2025/26 Season. This will give Selangor loyal fans the opportunity to also experience watching the SUPER GT Malaysia race from the Main Grandstand which is being contested in Malaysia for the first time in over 10 years. In addition, race goers will also have the opportunity to get to know the culture, food and entertainment from Japan which are brought exclusively by Nihon Matsuri, a famous Japanese cultural festival. On the other hand, selected partners of SUPER GT Malaysia and Haro Sports & Entertainment will also be given the opportunity to enjoy the Skydeck access during Selangor FC matches throughout the 2025/26 season at the MBPJ Stadium.
From this exclusive collaboration, Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon, CEO of Selangor FC shared his hopes on this partnership, “Through this collaboration, I believe that a variety of unique outcomes will flourish because football and motor racing are two different sports industries. We know that motorsports culture also has its own attraction, and when met with football, I am confident that it will open up a new dimension in creating a valuable experience between the two sports. In addition, this collaboration will also provide a new experience for loyal supporters to feel the atmosphere of car racing through a renowned championship among motor racing sports. This is one of the things that we are very happy to be able to provide to the Red Giants' supporters.
In addition, this collaboration will also be fully utilised through the exchange of ideas in exploring the commercial and creative world by producing content that can further expand the name of the club and Malaysian football as well as the motor racing industry with a unique and creative approach. With this collaboration, I hope that Selangor FC, Haro Sports & Entertainment and SUPER GT Malaysia will create more achievements together.”
Fahrizal Hasan, Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Haro Sports & Entertainment Sdn. Bhd also expressed his joy at being able to merge the two sports with a common goal, “We are very happy to be a mediator in merging Selangor FC and SUPER GT Malaysia. We aim for a strong relationship between football and motorsports that will provide many mutual benefits. SUPER GT Malaysia also hopes that through this collaboration, it will inspire more unique offerings in the future. We also want to increase our full involvement in the exclusive collaboration between Selangor FC and SUPER GT Malaysia.” he said.
Selangor FC is very honored by this collaboration and the willingness of Haro Sports & Entertainment Sdn. Bhd and Super GT Malaysia to become part of the Red and Yellow family. This collaboration will not only further develop the strategic relationship but also become a symbol of unity and passion in football and motorsports.
